I start getting annoyed when I think a movie is getting really quirky or hipster. I feel that way about many of Wes Anderson's movies. What is your cinematic dealbreaker?

Songs with obvious lyrics like "I love you" during an obvious scene. Another one is when a character is an "ugly duckling" but is clearly really photogenic minus just one thing, like thick eyeglasses, frizzy hair, or braces.

I really hate the "One true love" and "Love conquers all" tropes.

For instance, I LOVE the Matrix (The whole trilogy but specifically the first one is the one I'm talking about) - The only thing I hate from the original movie is towards the end after Neo gets shot by Agent Smith in the Matrix, and Trinity whispers in Neo's ear that the Oracle told her she'd fall in love with "The One" and that he can't be dead because she loves him, then kisses him while he's still plugged in to the Matrix and he miraculously comes back to life.

Screw that magic BS.

The Manic Pixie Dream Girl character. An example is Aziz Ansari's girlfriend in the first season of Master of None. Lovable and arty and somehow can afford everything cool in a place like New York.

I can't stand it when there's a total smart-alecky kid who talks down to the rest of the family. That kid is usually really sarcastic around almost everyone else, too.
