Bit of a weird one here! The only good things I can think of from the top of my head was literally everything to do with Zayne/Ownes and the tag match at CoC. I could see where they were going with the whole "Handcuffed to the ring ropes" routine right off the bat but still didn't mind it, it didn't lead to a Zayne win which was surprising though. Excited for the pairing of Orton & the guy, can't mind his name since I've only been watching for a few weeks again. But the whole "they'll be fired if they lose" thing is predictable, Bryan will clearly intervene because for some reason he sees talent in the two. Don't get Bryan's shtick in this whole thing but looking forward to it eventually regardless.

Women's stuff this week was weird. What's with the "southern girl" gimmick? Feels extremely forced with forced, awkward shoehorning of hunting talk into natural conversation and I don't like it. Mandy Rose just comes across as annoying, the only real personality I can see shining through is Ruby. But why the hell did Riot Squad come out, pick a fight, then break up said fight immediately? Seems completely pointless. Oh, and we get a lumberjack match now. I forsee a DQ finish or Charlotte to lose due to Riot Squad intervening somehow. Also am I the only one who hates that's Charlotte's whole shtick is literally riding on the cotails of Ric Flair? Being over doesn't count if you're over because you remind the fans of someone who's actually over.

Did anyone else notice that absolutely no-one cared that Dolph Ziggler was back? Perhaps the weakest pop I've ever heard when he made his first appearance on camera. But this whole triple threat thing is bland, there's no passion or heat to it, there's no real theme to it other than "I can beat you!" "No, I can beat you!" and it's pretty meh if I'm honest.

I'm actually not excited for the Bludgeon Brothers. All they've done since they debuted was beat up jobbers. I expected them to make an impact on the tag title picture immediately, coming into the ring and clearing out every single tag team on Smackdown would've been brilliant way to slide them into Smackdown. Didn't even watch their match, no point. Plus, their entrance takes far too long!

Missed the whole Jinder Mahal thing last I saw him he was part of 3MB I believe, but he appears to literally be another Khali character wise so could not be less excited for that match. Neat video package though.

Also I have no care for the guy from the Hype Bros who ranted. Heel turn was predictable, delivery was predictable, match is predictable and I hope there's a bigger angle here.

Can't put my finger on whether I like the New Day or dislike them. Entertaining for sure, possibly annoying on the other hand but ultimately good to watch so I'll go with like.

What's with the confused approach to commentator tables? Raw's is doing a TNA and having them right next to the Tron Smackdown is where it should be - right infront of the ring.

I would rate this Smackdown as below average. Very few highlights, not up to par.

Sarah Logan is the only one of the new debuts who hasn't really had much character development (or air time) in NXT. I think they're just going to develop the character on Smackdown. I used to really like the Jamie Noble and Nidia redneck/trailer park gimmick...so who knows, it could work. It's Liv Morgan on Smackdown, Mandy Rose is on Raw. Oh and it's Ruby Riott and the Riott Squad :p They added the extra T when she moved to Smackdown from NXT. I agree about the awkward exchange, it just made the Riott Squad look weak/stupid.

No surprise at all. Dolph seems to switch between jobber status and getting a push all the time. I think fans have had enough. We've got no reason to care anymore...we haven't had one in some time!

It's the usual thing they do when they bring in someone big, just make them dominate jobbers first. Luke Harper deserves better.

Not many people thought Jinder would win, the push came out of nowhere:

It's just to give each brand their own identity rather than have the same layout :)

Overall I pretty much agree with your thoughts, average at best.

I've mentioned it before but I've been following Sarah Logan's career for years and I was psyched when she signed with WWE and even more so when she debuted on the main roster. Prior to WWE, Sarah worked the independent scene and the former Crazy Mary Dobson is probably best known for her hardcore matches. Sarah is a decent enough wrestler but her promo work admittedly needs some work. You've got to remember that Sarah Logan has only been in WWE for roughly a year and she was given this Southern gimmick. If you see her Twitter or her Instagram, the real life Sarah Logan is more into Viking era stuff and, to me, letting her do some of that could be a more original gimmick than what she's got now. In any case, I think they need to make her stop doing the Southern accent.

They are definitely going with a different vibe for The Riott Squad than they are for Absolution. What bothers me is that Ruby Riott is not in the title match at Clash of Champions even though she pinned the champion last week. Meanwhile, Dolph Ziggler hasn't been seen since before Survivor Series and he just randomly gets thrown into the U.S. Title match. It also bothers me that they had The Riott Squad make this big impact a couple of weeks ago and you would think it would lead to a 6-Woman Tag at Clash of Champions but, instead, they're just put in as lumberjacks. I don't get it. Also, I realized while watching SmackDown LIVE this week that Liv Morgan and Carmella would make a good team. I even came up with a good team name, "Liv Fabulous".

I thought the opening segment was just horrible - they both looked like they were repeating scripts line for line and concentrating more on remembering the words than the message they were trying to get across. The sooner they do a switch for gallows & anderson (If only!!) the better.

I thought the backstage segment with the women was "okay", except for whoever it was on the left (I don't even know her name) completely hashing up her lines.

I don't really get what you are saying about Charlotte - she is a legitimately great performer. The only problem she has had is becoming a convincing face character after being such a good heel for so long but she is definitely getting better. Her in-ring work is top notch and you believe that she can beat up her opponent (which is more than can be said for many of the current expanded female roster..)

The Ziggler thing is a bit sad because I quite like him. The Ziggler vs Miz series was great and their ladder match was pretty much the only ladder match I've enjoyed in years because they both had experience and trust in each other to hit all the false finish ladder climbs without taking 3 minutes to climb the ladder each time like happens in most ladder matches. I assume that Ziggler has just been added to the match to take the pin from either Corbin or Roode (I assume Corbin since Roode is still relatively new to the roster) which is why he got no reaction.

I pop big for Bludgeon Brothers. Harper in particular is so damn good I'm glad they are being given a chance. I'm fine with them squashing local jobbers - Jax and Strowman did that plenty early days and the tag team roster isn't big enough for them to run through different teams each week.

Re Jinder - I'm sure I'm in an absolute minority here but I hope that Jinder wins the title at Clash of Champions. Now that he has ditched the Singh Brothers, he can go on a tear as a legit badass heel, rather than the chickensh*t heel which is how he was portrayed in his first run. Apart from AJ (who doesn't need the belt), I can't think of anyone at the moment who deserves the title more than Jinder. Hopefully Big E can turn on New Day and he and Rusev can rise up the card because they are both future main eventers who are wasting their time in my opinion.

Why is "Sarah Logan" such a hard name for people to remember? I say give her a break. She hasn't been in WWE that long and they gave her this over-the-top Southern accent and these ridiculous lines to say on live TV.

Also, let me get this straight. You want them to swap Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn for Gallows & Anderson? Why? That's such a lopsided trade at this point.

Anyways, I think this week's SmackDown LIVE was okay. It was nowhere near as good as RAW was and they seemed to be missing some key players (including AJ Styles, Jinder Mahal, The Usos, and Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin) but I assumed that had something to do with Tribute to the Troops (which WWE taped before SmackDown LIVE at the Naval Base in San Diego).

I like that Tamina is apparently Samoan now. First, Lana referred to her as being Samoan then Tom Phillips did the same. I'm not completely certain but, unless Tamina's mother is Samoan, then Tamina is not at all Samoan. Jimmy Snuka was Fijian and, while Tamina was trained by The Wild Samoans, I do not think she is actually Samoan herself.

On the topic of Charlotte Flair, I've never liked Charlotte. To me, she's always seemed real clunky in the ring and her promos are always terrible. To this day, I still think that, if it wasn't for being the daughter of Ric Flair, Charlotte would be nowhere near as successful as she is. I realize this is probably a controversial opinion, but it's how I see things. For what it's worth, I feel similarly about Natalya. For years, Natalya has been plain boring and has gotten by on being part of a famous wrestling family. Natalya's in-ring work is okay but, then again, she doesn't really do much apart from the Sharpshooter and the Discus Clothesline.

It was nice to see Rusev & Aiden English not only get a win but also get a spot on the card at Clash of Champions. It's obvious that this Rusev Day gimmick is over with the crowd and I wouldn't mind seeing Rusev & Aiden getting a run with the tag titles. Realistically though, they will probably just be taking the fall in the Fatal 4-Way Tag Match.

Just a side note but hats off to Aiden English for still being a part of WWE. Once Simon Gotch got released, I thought for sure that Aiden would flounder as a jobber for a while before also being let go. I never expected WWE to do anything with him past being a jobber and, had Rusev not been brought over in the Superstar Shake-Up, there's a good chance that would have been his fate.

The woman's backstage segment was cringe worthy, I agree with TPIB when it comes to Charlotte, whether people want to admit it or not being Ric Flair's daughter is the reason Charlotte is even in WWE. Jinder isn't a bad ass horrible on the mic, terrible in the ring, can't even execute his finisher without it looking sloppy, but if rumors are true he will probably win the title at the clash, then hold it to wrestlemania and drop it to Cena, Based on the end segment with shane and daniel, I predicting a Shane heel turn at the clash, not really a fan of the multi team tag title match, probably could have had Uso against Benjamin/Gable as the title match and have a number one contender match on the pre-show with new day vs rusev/english. really not interested in another Charlotte natayla title match unless it involves a carmella cash in, in my opinion raw was the better show

Even though I'm a big fan of AJ Styles, I think that it's highly possible that WWE put the title on AJ for two reasons; First, they did it for shock value (which we know WWE loves) and, second, they put the title on him so they could essentially "upgrade" the Universal Champion vs. WWE Champion match at Survivor Series. Now that Survivor Series is done with, I would not be surprised to see them put the title back on Jinder. They may have AJ retain at Clash of Champions but WWE will have a few more opportunities to put the title back on Jinder regardless. Knowing WWE, they will continue to stretch this feud out as much as possible. Personally, I have no interest in seeing Jinder as the WWE Champion again as I think there's a lot WWE can still do with AJ as the champion if they were willing to go through with it. I have no interest in seeing Cena vs. Jinder at WrestleMania.

I agree about the tag match. Making it a Triple Threat Tag Match was clustered enough as it is before they decided to make it a Fatal 4-Way Tag Match. For whatever reason, WWE seems to be pumping the brakes on this feud between The Usos and Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin just when it was starting to get good.

Whether it's Shane or Daniel who turn heel, it's going to be Shane who is treated as the heel regardless. I can't see a scenario where Daniel Bryan would get booed. What I just realized as I was typing that last sentence is that, back in the early stages of this Kevin Owens/Shane McMahon feud, Owens showed that Attitude Era footage of Shane's dodgy history as a special referee and so having Shane screw Owens over at Clash of Champions kind of brings it full circle in a way.

I also have no interest in seeing Charlotte vs. Natalya yet again. I don't like either of them and find both of them incredibly dull. WWE has missed a lot of perfect opportunities to have Carmella cash in so I hope they don't squander it like they did with Corbin. I also hope they give Carmella a decent run as the champion. In my opinion, Carmella is one of the most underrated talent on SmackDown LIVE if not the entire WWE.

Also, on a side note, weren't we supposed to get Fashion Files this week? I feel like WWE does that a lot; saying that we will get a Fashion Files segment but then we don't end up getting it.

Of the 6 women to come up, I only know Paige and Ruby Riott. Paige because she has been around before and Ruby Riott because the team is called the Riott squad so it helps me to remember. The fact I don't remember Sarah Logan isn't because its a tough name, it's because WWE are lazy as hell when it comes to bigging up people who arrive on the roster. Compare Sarah Logan to Asuka - both came up from NXT but they did heaps of promos for the arrival of Asuka. As a result, I know who Asuka is but I don't know Logan.

A trade Owens and Zayn for Gallows & Anderson is because Gallows & Anderson are DESPERATE for a restart. Who doesn't want to see more of the Good Brothers?! Would it be lopsided? I haven't really thought about the impact on the two tag divisions..

Well in this case I'm willing to move past the poor first impression of the gimmick, I've yet to see her actually wrestle so can't comment on her wrestling. I do agree Viking would be so much more impressionable than Southern, nothing wrong with a Southern gimmick but it can't feel forced and I honestly don't think her attire matches her gimmick like Lance & Murdoch back in the day!

Yeah I get the sense of a different vibe. It's interesting that Ruby isn't in it, I whole-heartedly believe the only reason Dolph is in the US title match is so he can eat the pinfall and leave the whole Roode/Baron feud open and uncertain. Dolph's commentary was awful, his line of "I should go see this a bit closer" was delivered painfully, and I don't think he even cared much about what he was doing, so why should we? Lic & Carmella would be good match! Great name for them too.

I was sure that because they weren't exactly "new" to WWE and used to be the Wyatt Family (this is how long ago I watched WWE last) that they would have been pushed a lot bigger than just being up against jobbers. We already know these guys are badass from their previous runs, I would have been much more interested in them establishing dominance in the tag team title race than over completely forgettable jobbers. Takes away the excitement of seeing them in action entirely, I didn't even watch. I would have rather seen these two in the tag title CoC match than Rusef & whatshisname.

One thing I've noticed since returning to watching is the push for Samoan wrestlers in WWE!

No I completely agree to be honest. If it wasn't for her riding the co-tails of Ric Flair's success I doubt Charlotte would be where she is now. I want her to move out of her father's shadow and be her OWN wrestler, not a copy/paste version of her father. What's the point in doing what's already been done? Same entrance music with a little slight variation, same finisher, same attire... pointless. I feel the same about Natalya as well, I feel like both of them could be much more than what they are but perhaps the creative teams are sure that we want to relive these great wrestlers through these new ones, whereas I'd rather see two new great wrestlers than them shadow what once was.

I wasn't quite entertained with those two, but perhaps they just need a little more time to warm up to. As I said before I'd have preferred the Bludgeon Brothers to get that card spot - would have made a more intense match I feel by far.

I have one question, why did Jinder get it in the first place? Surely there were better candidates??

Again I've not seen enough to judge but that's due to me only just being back. Since being back I've noticed that I look forward to the women's division segments and matches 3x more than I did before I stopped - it's seriously bumped up in quality!

Its happening at Clash of Champions. I can feel it. No other good reason to have her fight Natalya again, plus it is a lumberjill match. Has to happen.
You need to watch NxT a bit more. Mandy Rose has been around for ages. Have you not watched Total Divas?;)
