Who stills celebrates birthdays?

In our younger years, birthday parties were so popular. Do you still hold those parties (though not so wild now) that were popular at some point?

Should adults treat their birthdays like any other day? Should there be a big party or celebration? Most definitely, we are all free to do anything within the confines of the law. I prefer to have a nice dinner or an adventure out of town.

I celebrated the big ones like turning 21 then 30. I guess I'll celebrate turning 40. Or maybe I'll mourn it. Who knows? Most of my mates see their birthdays as just another day. I think some of the magic wears off as you get older.

My parents never celebrated their birthdays and didn't throw anything for their kids. I just followed suit. I was jealous for a while of classmates and friends who had birthday parties all throughout their childhoods.

I can picture how it must have felt seeing your friends celebrate their birthdays. Did they taunt you frequently? I was having a chat with a few friends who mentioned that birthdays have never been about big celebrations but about taking stock and evaluating themselves.

I don't think they ever did. Also, I didn't tell friends my birthday and they didn't ask when it was anyway. Looking back, I don't think I really missed out.

Often, I just have a couple of beers with my mates on my birthday or their birthdays. Sometimes we just need a day to treat ourselves specially and birthday seems to be that kind of days.

I like going out for birthday lunches or dinners with family. Like others mentioned, I also keep it low-key. If I were really rich, though, I would host an occasional big party at a restaurant.

Sure, why not? We celebrate our birthday's because our kids want to. Plus we made another trip around the sun, that is cause for celebration.

I recently got an invite to a friend's birthday party, and any attempt not to attend it was discouraged. It was a small affair that rekindled old friendships. People are still celebrating birthdays but in different ways. I would also opt for a low-key affair.
