What's your definition of a good movie?

How do you decide whether or not a movie is worth watching? To me, a good movie has to have an interesting script and a certain unique twist to the plot. I love to watch realistic movies that are original, though I also don't mind remakes and sequels.

To me, a good movie is one that holds my interest from beginning to end and has a good enough storyline that I'll think about it later and will want to see it again.

A good movie for me is determined by how the story was told. If the movie is full of action or drama with less attention given to the main story, then that movie will be a bad one for me. Likewise, if there is too much talk, then that won't be a good movie for me.

I don't mind predictable stories, as long as there's something surprising about at least one main character. I also like when there's something about a main character you can relate to, even if it's unpleasant.

This is a challenging question for me. "Good" depends on my mood. Sometimes I feel drained and just want to see a stoner comedy, and other times I want to see a dark, depressing documentary.

I like when the script is realistic and moves the story forward. The movie's look doesn't need to have dazzling special effects. As long as the visuals keep me curious about the story, it's cool.

Have you ever watched a movie and thought that you had everything figured out, only for it to take a different turn? I love movies that pull a fast one on me and leave me mesmerized; those that make me glued to the screen up to the very end.
