Briscoes, and American Dragon. Already I'm sold.

However, I'll buy my ticket when the next announcement is made, on January 6th, but only if it lives up to the hype its creating over at the UKFF forums.

Something doesn't smell right here!

Perhaps because the A-Merchandise website is registered but there is nothing there.

The FSM website is just a portal to hock their mags

The German site for WXW states:
wXw "Dead End VIII - Tag 1 (Essen)"
Ort: Essen, Deutschland
Datum: 21.06.2008
Beginn: Beginn: 17.30 Uhr | Einlass: 16.30 Uhr
Location: Musik Palette

So they won't be there!

I could be wrong, but my gut instinct says this is hoax!

I would STRONGLY suggest you call the skydome to check their events schedule (their number is 024 7663 0693 on last check) before sending any money to anyone about this!!!!

Edit: However, Mark Sloane has put his name to it... now I am confused!

I've been reading that this show is actually run by NOAH. This is from UK Hat Guy on UKFF:-

I've since had this confirmed by a few people, so it appears to be true.

Turns out that this show is actually going to be the first ever full Pro Wrestling NOAH event held in the UK. Therefore, in addition to Danielson and the Briscoes, I would expect KENTA, Naomichi Marufuji, Go Shiozaki, Takeshi Morishima, Kotaro Suzuki, Takashi Suguira, Ricky Marvin, Yoshinobu Kanaru etc to be eventually announced, as well as potentially any, some or all of Mitsuharu Misawa, Kenta Kobashi, Jun Akiyama and possibly Yoshihiro Takayama. Due to the location of the show, you could probably add Doug Williams, Nigel McGuinness and Scorpio to that list too.

Interesting idea, with both pros and cons. On one hand, instead of a one-off "supershow", it should be a proper NOAH show. The day of the supershow has come and gone, with random available imports and random showcase exhibition matches giving way to storylines, tournaments and full shows from foreign promotions (see International Showdown, Universal Uproar and early 1PW compared to UK ROH shows, KoEC and current 1PW). Fans got sick of the old versions of supershows, whereas full shows from imported promotions are still appealling since it brings a full experience.

In addition, whenever the NOAH imports were over doing their guest appearances over here, they always seemed to attract a fair number of Japanese fans (as in Japanese people, as opposed to just fans of the Japanese wrestlng) along, who you wouldn't normally see at wrestling shows in the UK. For example, I remember when Naomichi Marufuji and Minoru Suzuki came over for an FWA show in Morecambe a couple of years ago (to challenge Williams and Scorpio for NOAH GHC Heavyweight tag titles, as it happens) the 400-seater Morecambe Dome had around about 30-40 Japanese people turn up specifically to see them. By bringing over a full show, not only does it appeal to those UK (and European) people who follow the NOAH product and wis to experience something they would normally have to travel thousands to miles to, but also create something that Japanese ex-pats, students, workers etc living in the UK (and Europe) will flock to see.

Following on from that thought, there's huge potential for cross-promotion, presenting the event/day as some kind of festival of Japanese culture. Bringing together Japanese arts, foods, customs and festivities together with the wrestling could appeal beyond wrestling fans, as well as making it a more attractive and interesting experience for wrestling fans who are familiar with the Puroresu scene.

However, I do have doubts that there will be enough interest in what is, essentially, a small niche product within something which is already a small niche product. Misawa, Kobashi et al are HUGE pro wrestling names, but to the random guy in the street, they are nobodies. Of course, this particular show isn't being aimed at the random guy in the street, it's being aimed at fans who do know what NOAH is all about and giving them (in the vast, vast majority of cases) a first ever opportunity to go check it out and get the full experience. Will there be enough interest to fill the 3,500 seater SkyDome Arena?

I have my doubts. After all, Universal Uproar only attracted 2,400 people to the venue (and no-one has any idea how many of those were actually paid) and that show did feature Kobashi, Akiyama, an in-ring appearance from Mick Foley as well as the likes of Homicide, Low-Ki, Steve Corino, Sandman, Colt Cabana and Nigel McGuinness. Having said that, that event came at the end of the supershow era, when people had already seen everone they wanted to see (and as such, random showcase matches weren't enough to attract them back), and the show had been tainted by the sabotage of WWE (running an extra, unscheduled house show in the same venue a short notice a couple of weeks before with the sole purpose of derailing Uproar), TNA (who pulled all their talent, including Austin Aries, AJ Styles, Rhino and Spike Dudley, from the card due to their own PPV later that weekend), and by advertised talent Matt Hardy signing back with WWE. A full Pro Wrestling NOAH event is not re-treading old ground, it is blazing a trail.

The addition of NOAH gaijins who are already loved by the smart element in the UK will surely tempt some fans who are not normally followers of NOAH, but strong fans of ROH, PWG etc. You'll most definitely get people going specifically to see the Briscoes and Bryan Danielson, as has already been demonstrated by this very thread.

As well as all this, we don't know what breakeven point the show is working to. I would doubt very much that they need to fill all 3,500 before they turn a healthy profit. On the other hand, there is unlikely to be an "official" DVD release easily available for this show (I imagine it will be taped for Japanese TV - any DVD release would be an import..unless AMerchandise have set up some kind of special arangement), and traditionally these supershow profits/losses have been determined by the number of units of the DVD that are shifted. They could more than make up for this with other merchandise, however, with people clammering to get a hold of rare t-shirts, towels, posters, magazines, action figures, calendars etc that they wouldn't normally be able to get.

So yes - an interesting venture that will be like heaven on earth for a very small number, yet still appealing enough to raise intrigue of a good deal more. I wait for the official announcement of names with baited breath.
Still not fully confirmed but looks like its real

Mark Sloan seems legit, he's surely not a Kriss Sprules, right?

I think it's all legit, so I'm there. I'm almost wetting myself at Hat Guy's post. I hope it's true!!!!!

If thisis NOAH, then this may belong in both forums, or the Japanese forum as that would be where it would best impact the fan base.

However, we'll see until we get the press release.

Would it not benefit the show most if it stays here, and gets put in the International forum? Purely because although it may interest the Japanese wrestling fans, it's still a show happening in the UK.

Is there no way to maintain both threads with the same content at the same time in separate forums?

Tokyo, Japan

As promised, Pro Wrestling Noah's European Agent Doug Williams made formal the announcement of the first Pro Wrestling Noah event outside of Japan. In association with A-Merchandise.co.uk at the Coventry Skydome Arena on June 21st "European Navigation 2008" will rock the UK like never before.

The hardest hitting stars in Pro Wrestling will collide for one night only, Japanese superstars and legends will join some of the hottest stars from all over the world in an authentic Noah live event. This epic 3 hour extravaganza will feature wrestlers from across the world doing battle in the kind of matches that most can only of previously hoped to on see online or on DVD, now is you chance to see it live!.

Whenever a true fan of professional wrestling sees the familiar green mat, they know they are assured a very special show, and on June 21st, the owners of that famous wrestling livery will be making their first journey to the UK as a promotion.

Pro Wrestling NOAH has become THE promotion for wrestling fans in Japan since its formation in 2000 by legendary wrestler Mitsuharu Misawa. Despite its brief history, Pro Wrestling NOAH is firmly embedded in the rich traditions of Japanese 'puroresu', having taken the main stars and style of All Japan Pro Wrestling's heyday before that particular
promotion took a different direction.

Fans of Pro Wrestling NOAH have been treated to some of the greatest wrestling matches in the world, with stars such as Kenta Kobashi, Takeshi Morishima, Naomichi Marufuji and KENTA bringing the most hardhitting and technically sound wrestling on the planet today.

NOAH has kept itself primarily to its native Japan over the course of its existence. Yet with numerous visits to the UK, Europe and US by its various stars over the past few years, the promotion has been showing an active interest in presenting a major show in the West for a while.

On June 21st in Coventry Skydome, the dream of Misawa and his crew will become a reality, as Pro Wrestling NOAH will present its first major UK show. Fans who have previously only seen NOAH on DVD or on TWCFight! will finally get to see a full Pro Wrestling NOAH show live for the first time, without having to pay for a flight to Japan to do so!

Japanese stars such as Kenta, Morishima, Marufuji and Kotaro Suzuki and the best of NOAH's 'gaijin' stars such as Bryan Danielson, The Briscoe Brothers, Doug Williams and Nigel Mcguinness will be bringing their 'A' game in order to provide the best show possible for fans who are lucky enough to attend.

Featuring the European Debut of KENTA, the most exciting talent worldwide who is yet to appear in Europe, the Legendary Kenta Kobashi who just this past month made his triumphant return to Pro Wrestling after beating a serious cancer condition and current GHC world champion, 24 year veteran and Pro wrestling Noah owner Mitsuhau Misawa.

This will more than likely be the most talked about wrestling show this year, and will certainly be the must-see event for UK and European fans. And whether you are a long time fan of Pro Wrestling NOAH, or someone who has just caught the odd match on TWCFight! it will be one of the greatest wrestling experiences of 2008.

Darky, AH, DC, Gem, Becca, Rog, TGO...

Up for a trip?

I've tried already to get white area seats on the NOAH website but it won't let me buy them yet... but I will, oh I will...

You'll have to bail me out after the show though because I will jump on the ramp and hug Kobashi.

Just booked my tickets, no idea which ones i've got.
The website didn't even have a full online shop of its own, i ended up getting transferred to paypal, and paying my £250 directly to Mark Sloan, without first being able to see exactly where my seats are.
Just gotta wait and see what happens now i suppose.

I'm not sure to be honest with you. I have a feeling what will happen is that Mark Sloan will just have a large block of tickets that he will dispatch himself to you.

I think Skydome are dispatching tickets immediatly, not sure if Sloan is.
