Has anyone been purchasing these consoles playing on our sense of nostalgia? (Which is a great marking ploy by the way.) I recently got my dad the Atari Flashback for Christmas. I bet he's going to be stoked when he gets to play all his old favorite games. I saw that Nintendo is releasing a classic edition NES next year. I'm likely to be all over that.

I'm wondering if these new versions, like the minis and whatnot, are comparable to the old ones or are they different in significant ways?

Can't beat the originals, although I am absolutely stoked for the new PS2 dashboard theme announced for PS4! Releases tomorrow I believe.

I didn't realize there was going to be a new PS2 dashboard theme. Just looked that up, watched a video of it and now I'm beyond stoked as well. That'll hit you right in the nostalgia. I'm really digging this retro movement.

I play my original Megadrive and Ps1/2 games a lot on my ps2.

I dont even own a modern console. The last one I got was an xbox 360. Which I still sometimes play.

I think it's a shame that Playstation doesn't let you play your older games on the newer consoles. I was super disappointed when I learned about that after getting a PS3. Most of my favorite games are the older ones.

I didn't know all could play ps1 games, that's good to know. Sadly, I got one of the ones that doesn't play ps2 games and that's what most of my favorite games are. At the end of the day though, it's no big deal though because I got another ps2. I just think it's weird how they don't build on one another.

Its because of blueray technology. Some of the early ps3s didnt have blueray. The ps3s that do have can't run ps2 games.
