Due to all of the sexual harassment allegations, Netflix doesn't want to be affiliated with Kevin Spacey anymore. Thus, they're dropping the show. I doubt anyone will pick it back up. The show has almost run its course, but I was still enjoying it. I'm disappointed there won't be more but still completely understand and support Netflix's decision.

I read the articles on the confessions by Anthony Rapp and other unnamed sources. It's very sad that they had to endure so much because they were still nobody and had a greater purpose in mind. Thumbs up for the courage, although I do wonder why it only happened now after all those times.

I'm not a big fan of political drama, but it sure is sad to hear a series got shot down because of its lead actor's scandal.

I understand the decision but it sucks as House of Cards was one of the best series on tv. Also it was the last series of the program so would have been nice to have finished the show.

Glimm: it is sad. Accusations like this always seem to open the floodgates. I guess it just takes one person to show some courage for others to show theirs. Plus, it helps give credibility to the first person's accusations. But yeah, bummer that this show won't be around because Kevin Spacey is a tool.

Laffy: I'm with you. It's understandable, but man it sucks. Do you think they might just have him killed off and let Robin Wright take the lead? I know she'd be capable of it but I don't know where that would really leave the story. Apparently they're working on ideas for spinoffs. One of the ideas is to do something focused on Stamper. I haven't decided if I'm intrigued by the idea or not yet.

I read that it's what the writers are doing: trying to focus on Claire Underwood to conclude the season. A few days ago, I think I read an article which mentioned about killing Spacey's character to let the focus changes more swiftly. I suppose she's a potential character for the series' premise, but I won't be crossing my fingers.

What are they even planning to do with spin-offs?

Killing him off would probably be the easiest way to move on quickly. It also isn't exactly outside of the realm of possibility that someone might want to off Frank Underwood. Are you not a fan of Claire? I think she's awesome.

No idea what they're planning to do. That's just what shows do these days when they run out of steam on the original idea. I don't think I'd want to watch multiple seasons of Stamper being front and center. Maybe half a season...maybe.

They have hit a stumbling block in that Spaceys contract does not have a morality clause so they can’t fire him for that. They can only fire him if he is unfit to continue working or incapacitated. If they just write him out they will still have to pay him and give him royalties. The only way they can get out of not paying Spacey is if they just cancel the series. I’m not sure about spin offs as well as he is a producer or writer of the series so would have to pay him as I think he holds the rights to the show.

I can't recall if any past series has tried killing off its main characters, made a focus shift, and still pulled it off. Especially for a series that has been around for quite some time, it just wouldn't be the same without the main guy we've been following around.

I didn't know about this, but I guess it makes sense. Maybe they paid him a certain amount of money since they broke the contract. The producers have a greater goal to save a series than be considerate of an actor, after all.

I didn't know about the contracts either but that all makes a lot of sense. I don't think they'd have too much success with spin-offs anyway, in my opinion, because Frank is such an indispensable part of the show. I bet they're just going to drop it.
