Adam "Pacman" Jones has either signed or is expected to sign a short-term deal with TNA according to Hope Hines of the WTVF, Ch. 5, news in Nashville.

Hines said the signing was supposed to be kept secret until Jeff Jarrett returned on Tuesday from an international trip.

We have independently confirmed that this story is correct.

Jones was suspended by the NFL for his link to a Las Vegas shooting at a strip club over the NBA All-Star weekend that left former 1980s AWA pro wrestler Tom Urbanski, who was managing the club, paralyzed from the waist down.

The negotiations with Jones are obviously an attempt for TNA to get mainstream publicity, even if the publicity won't be good, for the company. The timing of it, with pro wrestling's public image at an all-time low, will only reinforce the current reputation.

TNA are stupid for doing that then- they could do themselves great favours if they seperated themselves from WWE in the public eye and made themselves out to be better than the WWE at this moment

Not even that - they're bringing in a woman-beating, friend-of-gun-weilder, disgraced NFL star with more police altercations than probably most of TNA's roster put together. One that hasn't even been trained at that.

It's akin to WCW bringing OJ Simpson into the company in 1994. Except, they didn't. Even THEY weren't that stupid.

Funny enough OJ is working a wrestling show in Japan. Or will be if Hustle have their way. They have approached him with plans for OJ to appear on a show.

ANOTHER SIGNING BY TNA?
by Mike Johnson @ 11:16:24 AM on 7/30/2007

The word making the rounds is that former WWE star Andrew "Test" Martin was offered or has signed a deal with TNA. I've heard that Martin did sign from two independent sources outside of TNA. TNA sources refused to comment when reached this morning, so take it for what it is.
Oh Brilliant!

-> TNA SIGNS CONTROVERSIAL SUSPENDED NFL PLAYER

- Just when you thought professional wrestling couldn't get any more wicked, TNA decided to pull one out of the "can't believe we did this" bag. Several sources are reporting that the company has signed Adam 'Pacman' Jones to a wrestling deal. For those of you unaware of who Jones is, he's an NFL player with the Tennessee Titans who got himself suspended for the whole season of 2007/8 for getting into several problems. His rap sheet is as big as a football field including arrest on charges of assault and felony vandalism, arrest for disorderly conduct and public intoxication, misdemeanor assault for allegedly spitting in the face of a female student among a lot of other incidents and arrests. Perhaps his most famous problem and the one which got him suspended occurred earlier this year during the NBA All Star Game in Las Vegas after he got involved in a fight with an exotic dancer at a strip club. An individual from Jones' posse had a gun and fired into the crowd, hitting three, including a former pro wrestler who was paralyzed from the waist down.

Hoping to get some mainstream covergae and create some interest. Thing is with these things, as the PW Insider sayd, brining in such celebs may give a slight ratings boost but its proven that those watching the show for a particualry star dont stick around. Plus with the current TNA product who'd blame them

Well, TNA and the Titans already have a relationship, so this is probably just something else in their relationship. Gives him something to do.

- Kevin Eck, who used to work for WCW, commented on the report that said Vince Russo didn't suggest Pacman Jones to TNA, in his blog today with the following: "As someone who worked for WCW when Russo frequently spoke about the company needing a publicity stunt to turn things around--such as the suggestion of paying O.J. Simpson $1 million to take a lie detector test on a WCW PPV, I find that hard to believe."

As expected, several media outlets have picked up on TNA Wrestling signing the troubled Tennessee Titans Cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones. Some people in TNA were said to be furious that the story leaked early, although shortly after it broke online, Nashville’s FOX affiliate picked up on it.

According to those close to the situation, the idea of signing Pacman was completely the work of Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett has close ties with the Titans organization, seeing as they do business in the same town, and was able to get the approval from the organization. The feeling amongst those in the Titans organization was that this would give Jones something to do and hopefully keep him out of trouble.

Jones’ attorney has been telling media outlets that he will not be wrestling and will not be portrayed as a villain. That statement should be taken with a grain of salt as there are sources from inside TNA that are saying that there is talk of Jones actually wrestling and it would probably be next to impossible to keep him from being a heel.

He sounds like a right p****. I really pity TNA, it's such a wrong move. If he gets involved in anything i'd like to see the whole roster beat the crap out of him.

From the Wrestling-Online Newsletter:

> TITANS OBTAIN COURT ORDER TO PREVENT JONES FROM WRESTLING

- The Tennessee Titans are doing everything they can to prevent Adam 'Pacman' Jones from getting in the ring and get physical with the possibility of getting injured. Today, the Titans went to court and successfully obtained a restraining order which prevents Jones from wrestling. The Titans released the following statement today. "Today we filed a motion in Williamson County asking for a court order preventing Jones from participating in any wrestling activity. All NFL players have language in their contracts that prohibit them from engaging in activities which may involve a significant risk of personal injury. We certainly believe wrestling to be hazardous and it is obvious from the player's conduct that he is ignoring this aspect of his agreements with the club. As an organization, we feel it is our obligation to protect our rights in this instance." When news broke out that Jones was signing with TNA, his attorney first said that his client would not be getting into any wrestling and then TNA - and later Jones himself - confirmed that he would be wrestling despite the Titans head coach saying that it would be violating the terms in his contract.

> iMPACT! RATING

- TNA iMPACT! received a 1.0 rating for yesterday's show, which has to be considered as a major disappointment considering all the media coverage the company received for the signing of Adam 'Pacman' Jones. (Rating compiled by Nielsen Media Research and put online by PWInsider.com)
