Giving Understanding

I had a long conversation with my mother yesterday. It was very hard trying to tell her about a thing in my mind. She understood my point as I was telling her mistake in the past, then she tried to defend herself that she did it out of love. I said many times that I was not telling her that she was wrong, but that I'm only expressing my thoughts to her. Sometimes, giving understanding to someone who tries not to understand is the best way to handle it.

It took me awhile, but I get your point. Some people just have a hard time taking someone's understanding and simply being appreciative of it. I think in your mother's case, she's just being apologetic to be nice. On some level, I think she gets what you're doing.
