Punk's choice
6th December 2007

The beasts clashed on last week's ECW, and Kane fell at the gigantic hands of Big Daddy V – and SmackDown's Mark Henry. CM Punk surely has been watching the conflict of the giants, and next week the ECW Champion will have to "pick his poison" in a Champion's Choice Match. What will Punk's fate be when he must select one behemoth or the other?

The Land of the Extreme's newest Superstar, Shelton Benjamin, defeated Shannon Moore on ECW, and claimed he's unstoppable. Will Benjamin – who has a whole new outlook – be successful? Stay tuned to ECW to find out.

Kelly Kelly and Layla met for their first one-on-one beauties match on ECW. Kelly Kelly – who is featured in the new WWE Magazine – was victorious, but it's clear the Divas still have some bad blood. What's next for these two Divas on ECW?

WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz faced SmackDown's Jesse & Festus and continued their winning streak, but will the WWE Tag Team Champions continue to reign supreme over ECW?

Find out the answers to all of these questions and more on the next ECW this Thursday night on Sky Sports 3 at 11pm!
ECW going up against the 2nd hour of TNA iMPACT in The States should be very interesting to say the least.

Spoilers:

Dark Match to start off the night: Chavo Guerrero versus Charles Evans. Come on... Chavo still doing dark matches? Man, that's harsh. Chavo was pretty good getting the heel heat versus Charles Evans who was billed as a local from Florence. Chavo worked over the left leg of Evans for a good bit of the match. Evans comes back with some standard power moves like a power slam and press slam. Finish comes down with Evans hitting an inside cradle on Chavo for the pinfall. Chavo acts shocked and plays it up.

Tazz and Joey Styles come down and it's time for ECW.

1st Match of ECW - Miz and Morrison versus The Major Brothers non-title. Miz and Morrison must still be getting out from under the JBL incident because they worked pretty hard. Some of the high spots included Miz getting a flip over senton from one of the Majors to the outside followed by Morrison getting another flip over senton by the other Major brother. Miz and Morrison also hit a two man flapjack slam on one of the Majors. Finish came down to the non-legal Major getting knocked off the apron and Morrison hits the Corkscrew Neckbreaker for the 3 count.

Video Package for Kofe Kingston. Boy, this was a lot like Carlito's videos when he was coming into the WWE. Not sure if he's going to be face or heel, but he puts a beach bully into the sand up to his neck and kicks sand in his face.

Interview with CM Punk. Punk talks about how either way, his match tonight versus either Big Daddy V or Mark Henry was a lose-lose situation so he was going to leave the decision up to either Armando Estrada or Matt Striker.

2nd Match of ECW - Kelly Kelly and Balls Mahoney versus Victoria and Kenny Dykstra in a mixed-tag match. Balls and Kenny start out the match and as soon as Balls gets some offense and goes for his punches, Kenny weasels out and tags Victoria. Victoria works over Kelly for a bit before Kelly gets the hot tag back to Balls. Balls gets his offense in, gets the punches on Kenny, things break down and Balls end up with the pin over Kenny via inside cradle.

Next out was Shelton Benjamin. He cuts a better promo than last week. Basically saying he was promised big things and didn't get them, but it's his time now and THERE AIN'T NO STOPPING ME NOW!

3rd Match - Shelton Benjamin versus Jimmy Wang Yang. Yang didn't get much offense in but Benjamin got most of his stuff in. Benjamin over Yang with the running DDT/Complete Shot.

4th Match - Kevin Thorne versus Jeff Lewis. Lewis was in the ring with no music or anything being an "enhancement talent." This was a squash to build Thorne some more but Thorne came out in plain red trunks. Thorne wins with his version of the Shock Treatment.

5th Match - Big Daddy V and Mark Henry come to the ring with Matt Striker. Striker says that since Punk left it up to him, he would flip a coin to decide Punk's fate. Heads for V, tails for Henry. It's tails. Punk will be facing Mark Henry. CM Punk comes out and they start the match with Punk trying to get a battle plan in for how big Mark Henry is. Kicks glance off of Henry and he laughs at Punk. Punk tries for a waist lock and can't get it so he jumps on Henry's back for a sleeper hold. The two wind up going over the ropes with Punk trying to hold onto the sleeper. Once they get back into the ring, Punk gets worked over by Henry. And just when Punk turns the tables back on Henry and is going for his finishing sequence of moves (running knee into bulldog, etc), Big Daddy V comes into the ring behind Punk and we have a DQ. Punk gets smashed by V and Henry until Kane comes down for the save with a chair. He lays out the heels with chair shots. They roll out of the ring and are by the ring close to the ramp. Armando Estrada then comes to the entranceway and says that we have a problem and we're going to solve it. So at Armageddon, it will be CM Punk and Kane versus Big Daddy V and Mark Henry. Kane then reaches for Striker and pulls him up and into the ring from the floor. He sends Striker into the turnbuckle and lets Punk hit his running knee and when Striker comes out of the corner, he runs into a chokeslam from Kane.

ECW was going brilliantly (by its standards) until the main event. I dont know who's bag Punk spat in, but he's not even had a real feud his whole (3 month) reign, and he's not had a damn thing to do since Morrison and Miz, which wasnt even about him. NOTHING, its ridiculous. And being squashed by Henry and BDV for no reason whatsoever does nothing for anybody. It continues to amaze me how little they even use Punk. Orton gets buried in the main event every week which is bad enough, with Punk its a burial-by-default seen that he's hardly even mentioned on shows.

But like I said, ECW was very fun apart from the last 10 minutes. Tag match was really good, Morrison and Miz have nice spots and work really well together, and it was the best Majors match I've seen. They showed their potential, and I think with personalities they could be something. They had one of those promo-in-the-top-corner-during-entrance deal with them, and the one with the hat showed at least some charisma (as much as one could see in 10 seconds), which is a good sign.

And Kelly Kelly KILLED Victoria with a hurricarana (in the good way, not the botched way), it was Kelly's best match by far as well.

I wish they'd put over the Kevin Thorn change better. When he cut his hair and started to wear trunks, he should have explained how he's ditching the Vampirism to focus on wrestling and hurting people, or something to that effect. That way, he doesnt look like a jobber, with his semi-push on ECW all to waste.

Shelton isnt a great talker, he really shouldnt talk for that long. I like the "gold standard" line though, it compliments his horrible hair in a good heel way. He needs gold gear though I reckon. And he should talk less and wrestle more, his in ring work is unique which is a better way to get him over than making speeches, especially when you have Elijah for that. By alls means use the "gold standard" stuff, but they should emphasise his amazing atheticism and crazy spots, he's the "Human Highlight Reel" instead of the usual heel lines which we've heard so many times before. I know "Human Highlight Reel" is a standard commentary line, but it fits Shelton perfectly, and if not that exact phrase, something to that effect. The spots he pulls off are the best thing about him, they need to use them.

Oh and Kofe Kingston just seems like a really poor man's Carlito, and Carlito was never that great.

How to get Shelton up the ladder?-Have him squash the whole cruiserweight division, great writing there boys

Mark Henry looks like Barry White

Kevin Thorn looks now like a poor mans Sean o` Haire,I love how his opponent came off the ropes and jumped into his arms, very romantic

The Major Brothers are OK i think there still finding there feet and still stuck in a very 80`s like look they have to just find there niche or become the Young Stallions 2008,even the Hardys werent great at first. However Miz and Morrison are rather great

ECW was pretty good this week. The opener was enjoyable, I'm slowing coming round to both teams. The mixed-tag wasn't a whole lot bad, Kelly Kelly isn't good but she wasn't as awful as she was last week. Shelton Benjamin still sucks on the mic, he was just rambling for 2 minutes and looked far to uncomfortable, I did chuckle at "I'm not lazy!". The match with Jimmy Wang Yang was ok, the main event was poop mind. I didn't see the Kofi Kingston video, anyone have a link on youtube or something?

Awwww man....First they drop Kevin Thorne's kick-ass waistcoat/tie combo, then they dress him like the lost member of Kronik, now they've given him Hasselhoff's pants. I can only assume that next week, he'll be naked.

Good show this week like has been said up until the main event, Punk & Kane vs Big Daddy V & Mark Henry here we come :(

Not sure about this Kofi Kingston guy, haven't seen him in the ring before so won't judge him too hard until I do, but like Jimmy said he seems like a poormans Carlito

Kelly Kelly, I have one thing to say to her STAY OUT OF THE RING she was better this week then previous ones but seriously she was still garbage, and I thought she had broke Victoria's neck with the first (spinning) hurracarana when he didn't let go with her legs and landed pretty much ontop of Victoria
